Carlos Barbosa

History

Carlos Barbosa is a place of various ethnicities. The story of the city starts in 1885 with the arrival of the first German immigrants, but the development of the city  began when the Italian immigrants arrived, in 1870.
Currently, Carlos Barbosa is known for having the headquarters of Tramontina, a Brazilian company known for development of electric equipment, cutlery, pans, sinks, etc. The city is also known as the futsal city, because of the great futsal team in the town, the ACBF (Associação Carlos Barbosa de Futsal)

Tourist attractions

Train ride: Carlos Barbosa has a tour by a steam-powered train which travels 23Km between Carlos Barbosa and Bento Gonçalves. The tour also has typical Italian and gauchos attractions and give the passengers the feeling of going back in time.

Park Station: Located in the center of the town, the Park holds the old Railway Station building. It was built in 1908 and restored in 2000. It’s one of the most beautiful post cards of Carlos Barbosa. Currently, the Park Station holds the cinema.

Moinho São José: Built by the immigrant David Tieppo, in 1887, the mill is located 3Km from the city and has a beautiful natural setting around it.

Igreja Matriz Nossa Senhora Mãe de Deus: Built in 1943, is dedicated to Our Lady Mother of God. The bells of the church are played in special celebrations.

Morro do Diabo: Considered as one of the best ramps to practice free flight in Rio Grande do Sul, this attraction has 665 meters height and an easy access. The place also has a great infrastructure to receive tourists and visitors.

Location

Carlos Barbosa is located at the Grape and Wine Region, in the Serra Gaúcha. The city is situated 100Km away from Porto Alegre, 65Km from the Hortências Region (Nova Petrópolis, Canela, Gramado e São Francisco de Paula), and a few kilometers away from the main cities of the Grape and Wine Region: Caxias do Sul, Bento Gonçalves and Garibaldi.
